Villa Rosa is situated in Orvieto’s surrounding, in the region called « Umbria ».

Umbria represents the “green heart” of Italy, just between Tuscany, Latium and Marche.

Orvieto is a little town of 20 000 inhabitants, but its history begins in the Etruscan period, and then follows under Romans’ domination, becoming a very important centre during Middle Age and Renaissance because of its short distance from Rome (just 80 km) on the way to Siena and Florence (150 km) and its geography that makes the town a real natural fortress, on a rock at 330 mt of height, dominating the Tiber’s plane: the ideal place to give protection to the Pope in those troubled centuries, when Rome became too dangerous.

The historical centre has preserved its atmosphere, with its palaces and churches of XIV and XV century, and of course, its cathedral, the masterpiece of Gothic in Italy.

Civita di Bagnoregio is a medieval village only 10 kilometers from the villa
